Teacher Training500-hour Advanced Teacher Training (RYT®500)The 500-Hour Advanced Teacher Training is an in-depth study into the art and science of practicing and teaching yoga. The program is designed to encourage participants to cultivate a true understanding of the practice by placing the physical aspect of Yoga into its energetic, philosophical and anatomical contexts. Each weekend will explore a different facet of yoga along with one or more asana practices, Pranayama, meditation, practice teaching and teaching methodology sessions. The following descriptions offer an initial overview of each weekend (specific topics and guest teachers are subject to change).In addition to attending all teacher training sessions below and completing all additional requirements, students must teach for 100 hours before submitting their 500-hour RYT® application to the Yoga Alliance.

June 1-3This weekend sets the foundation for the training with an overview of the curriculum and a broad overview of the history of Yoga. We will introduce the Universal Principles of Alignment of Anusara yoga.
June 29-July 1Therapeutics. Gain a working knowledge of anatomy in practical terms through lecture and experiential exercises. We will learn how to balance the shoulder girdle to properly set our sails for the winds of grace to fully support us. Using the Anusara Principles of Alignment and basic anatomy and breathing techniques, we will start to tap into the range of motion and freedom we all deserve.
July 20-22Experience the essence of Tantra yoga with Yogiraj Rod Stryker. The weekend will include philosophy, asana, meditation and Pranayama.
August 3-5Therapeutics. Continue to deepen your knowledge of anatomy of the upper body and its relationship to the neck and head. During this weekend we will also explore the anatomy of yoga as applied to women's health and wellness, MS, heart disease, Parkinson's disease and other chronic illnesses.
September 8An in-depth look at the chakras with Jill Cahn.
September 21-23Vyaas Houston, founder and president of the American Sanskrit Institute, presents his unique program “Learning Sanskrit”. Learn to read and pronounce Sanskrit as we chant the Sanskrit alphabet in this unique program.
October 6Parts 1 and 2 of a four-part Ayurveda Intensive with Ayurvedic practitioner, Dr. Brendan Feeley.
October 19-21Part 3 of the Ayurveda Intensive. We will also practice teaching advanced poses and using themes to create unique, memorable classes. Guest teachers: Dr. Brendan Feeley and Linda Howard.
November 16-18We will delve deeper into yogic philosophy as we explore kriyas, koshas and kleishas with Doug Keller.
December 1Part 4 of the Ayurveda Intensive.
December 7-9Meditation and philosophy are the topics for this information-packed weekend. On Saturday, we will analyze the ego and the Self from both a yogic and Jungian perspective. Hindu deities, their symbolism and relationship to western archetypes will also be discussed. Guest teachers: Dr. Gina Sager, Dr. Brendan Feeley and Dr. Manoj Chalam.
January 18-21 (4-day weekend)Teaching special populations such as seniors, athletes, overweight people or pregnant women can be challenging, but rewarding. This weekend will focus on variations and modifications various asanas along with the proper and safe use of props. We will also practice assisting and adjusting advanced poses. Guest teacher: Linda Howard.
February 15-18 (4-day weekend)Ethics and the business of yoga, final exam and graduation.
