Class Descriptions
Yoga I introduces beginning and continuing students to the fundamental principles of alignment and breath work. Emphasis is on standing poses, stretching and strengthening of the legs, back and shoulders.
Yoga 1 Short & Sweet introduces busy students to the fundamental principles of alignment and breath work. Emphasis is on standing poses, stretching and strengthening of the legs, back and shoulders. Yoga 1 Short & Sweet is a Yoga 1 class in a shorter format.
Prenatal Yoga
This class is designed to help expectant mothers bond with their babies and connect with their bodies during this transformative time by increasing muscular tone, strength, flexibility and concentration. Come nurture yourself as we make space for your developing baby in each and every pose. A doctor's note is required at the time of registration or before the first class.
Yoga Fundamentals
Yoga Fundamentals is an introduction to yoga designed for the yoga novice. You will learn basic poses, breathing and relaxation. This series will slowly guide you into a complete yoga practice.
Yoga I/II builds endurance for continuing students who have completed level 1. Level 1 poses will be refined and level 2 poses are introduced.
Yoga II is for students who have completed level 1. Revolved poses and sun salutations are introduced along with preparatory poses for inversions, backbends and arm balances. Pranayama and meditation are introduced.
Yoga II/III is for students who have completed level 2 and would like more practice and preparation for inversions, backbends, arm balances and deepening twists. The more subtle aspects of the poses are explored.
Gentle Yoga combines warm-ups, gentle postures and yogic breathing to increase mobility and reduce stress. Gentle yoga is for students who prefer a less vigorous class and those experiencing illness, injury or chronic pain. All poses will be carefully modified for each student's needs and abilities.
Ageless Yoga is designed expressly for the needs of mature students. Explore how yoga can improve your life physically and emotionally, promoting a healthy, active lifestyle for years to come. If you have hesitated to try yoga due to stiffness or other reasons, this is the class for you! The classes are appropriately paced for both beginning and continuing students.
Yoga for Core Stability
This class focuses on developing awareness, flexibility and strength in the core body through asana, various abdominal exercises and breath. This is a sophisticated class that requires discipline and awareness. Attentions to subtle aspects of the core stability muscles are explored. Experienced level 1 and above.
Qigong
Qi Gong ( pronounced "chee gung") literally means energy cultivation exercises. These exercises combine easy-to-learn body movements, self massage, breath practice and deep relaxation. The practice can be done standing, sitting or lying down. Qi Gong cultivates the medicine within the body. It evokes the relaxation response, slowing down the breathing, heart rate, blood pressure. Qi Gong also stimulates the immune system, strengthens heart and lungs and improves balance. It is an excellent tool for preventing disease and leads to a healthy lifestyle.
Yoga for Stress Reduction
This is a Level I class in which people work with poses and learn modifications that help move their yoga practice to its fullest potential. Grounded in the Anusara method, poses are safe, playful and provide an open, accepting environment in which all can delight in their bodies and relax their mind, hence reducing their stress. This is not a fast-paced vinyasa class.
Tai Chi Easy™
Tai Chi Easy™ is a mind body practice which combines exercise and meditation (in motion) to activate the inner healing forces. It is a carefully developed method and approach to Tai Chi and Qi (energy) cultivation that makes it easy, beneficial and fun from the very first class. Tai Chi Easy™ can be done by people of all ages and conditions in as little as two movements or as many as five, either standing still, walking or sitting in a chair.
Vinyasa
Vinyasa flow is a fun, invigorating practice in which you link breath and movement while dynamically flowing through a series of yoga asanas (postures). Alignment and breathing are emphasized and as you move in and out of poses, the mind quiets and the body experiences more stability, strength and flexibility. All levels welcome.
Kundalini Yoga
Kundalini Yoga utilizes breath along with dynamic movement to invigorate the body and strengthen the immune, endocrine, and nervous systems. Mantra is woven in with the breath to focus the mind and to bring the emotional body under control. Breath is channelized to the chakras and to the organs to heal the body with prana. It is called the Yoga of Awareness because through this practice we seek with our breath to become conscious of how we interact and relate to others and the world. With Kundalini Yoga we increase our awareness; we learn self-healing and responsibility.
Yoga as Therapy
Yoga as Therapy is for students with physical conditions such as serious spinal problems, arthritis, heart problems, MS, chronic and acute injuries, etc. All poses will be carefully modified for each student's needs and abilities to help manage and relieve pain while building strength and flexibility.
Yoga for Athletes
Yoga for Athletes is a vigorous class designed for serious athletes looking to improve their performance and reduce the risk of injury. This class offers a balance of physical intensity, breath-work and relaxation that will strengthen your core, improve your balance and flexibility, and it's a great way to start the weekend! No previous yoga experience is necessary.
Inspired Yoga Flow Level I
A flowing style of Yoga designed to inspire and rejuvenate! Taught in an uniquely interdisciplinary approach to Yoga, this all-inclusive course honors each student's individual needs with nurturing hands on instruction and uplifting music. Fundamental postures are explored linking the breath with meditative movement. Open to all levels of study. Beginners welcomed.
Inspired Yoga Flow Level I/II
An Intermediate level course designed to inspire and rejuvenate! Taught in an uniquely interdisciplinary approach to Yoga, this all-inclusive course honors each student's individual needs with nurturing hands on instruction and uplifting music. Intermediate postures including inversions, arm balances and intermediate level transitions are explored linking the breath with meditative movement. Students with previous Yoga experience encouraged. Class size is limited to allow personal attention.
Yoga for Children
Dynamic & bursting with energy, this class is designed to challenge and inspire children in the delight of creative movement, mind-body fitness and artistic awareness. Your child will be nurtured through yoga as they a taken on a journey through their senses and around the world. From the oceans & jungles of Costa Rica to Australia's wild-lands and the mountains of India & Nepal - we will travel the planet incorporating physical yoga posture study with art exploration and story telling. Classes are taught in a relaxed atmosphere of acceptance & self-awareness, designed especially for children ages 6-10.
